This traditional mala rosary features 108 beads crafted from natural carnelian. Used for japa—a meditative practice of reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra or deity’s name—this mala helps maintain focus and count during spiritual practices. According to Hindu tradition, the mala is held in the right hand, with the thumb gently moving one bead at a time while draped over the middle finger; the index finger is avoided, symbolising the transcendence of ego on the path to Self-Realisation.
Carnelian: A variety of chalcedony, carnelian is a silica-based mineral composed primarily of quartz. Its rich orange to reddish-brown hues are the result of iron oxide inclusions. Traditionally, carnelian has been associated with vitality, motivation, and confidence. It is often used in practices that focus on grounding energy, enhancing creativity, or strengthening personal will.
Please note: Due to the natural variation in gemstones, bead sizes and overall length may vary slightly. Beads measure approximately 0.6cm to 0.8cm, and the mala length ranges from 60cm to 80cm.
